What is Puente?

Established in 1981, Puente is an academic, counseling and mentoring program for students to build the necessary skills for college and life success. Students enrolled in the Puente program work closely with their counselor, English instructor and mentor to prepare for transfer to four-year colleges and universities.

Who We Serve

Any eligible student who is interested in being part of a learning community and has goals to earn a degree/transfer to a 4 year university. ALL students are ALWAYS welcome!

Puente Mission

To increase the number of students in educationally underserved communities to:

Transfer to four year colleges/universities
Earn college degrees
Return to the community as leaders and mentors

Counseling Component:

Assists with educational, career and personal goals
Helps encourage students to further their educational goal
Creating familia in the classroom
Helps navigate the university application process and college-prep curriculum for transfer
Provides college network system

English Component:

Community based writing assignments
Complete college level English as well as critical thinking English
Process centered writing instructions
Focus on latino/multicultural literature
Offers individual and small group tutoring

Chromebooks/Statistical Calculator Loan program (limited availability, first come first serve)

* All services and events are based on available funding
