Registration fees are due immediately after registration occurs. Golden West College does not bill for unpaid registrations. Students will be dropped for non-payment in accordance with the Drop for Non-Payment schedule posted below. 

To view your balance and pay in full online using a Visa, Master Card, or Discover card, follow the steps below. NOTE: It his highly recommended that students use Google Chrome as their browser when making payments on the student portal. Safari is not recommended.

1. Log-in to your MyGWC.com portal.
2. Click on Registration on the left navigation bar.
3. Click on Pay My Fees under Registration Tools.
4. Select the term to see fees due.
5. Click on Pay Now.
6. The payment portal will open. Click on Make Payment and follow the prompts.

Online payments are made through your MyGWC account. If paying by cash or check, please visit the Bursar's Office at the Student Services Building.

This is a mandated fee unless the student presents a waiver. Those eligible for a waiver are:

1. Students who depend solely on prayer for healing in accordance with the teachings of a bona fide religious sect, denomination, or organization. 
2. Students enrolled only in courses of less than two weeks duration.

One dollar ($1.00) will go to the campus and one dollar ($1.00) will go to support the operations of a statewide community college student organization for the purposes of providing student government representatives the means to state their positions and viewpoints before city, county, district, state, and federal government as well as other public agencies on behalf of the student body.

This charge underwrites many student services and campus programs. The College Administration and Student Council encourage students to support the campus community by paying this non-mandatory fee. $1.00 of each College Service Charge fee funds student scholarships and the library textbook program. Information about specific programs funded by this charge and requests for a waiver of the College Services Charge are available during posted business hours in the Campus Life Office. The request to waive the College Services Charge must be secured in advance prior to the student’s payment of registration fees. The period to obtain this waiver is between the date class schedules are available online through the last day to enroll in the regular school semester. This fee is subject to change. A current Golden West College Parking Permit is required to park a vehicle in campus parking lots. Permits may be purchased on-line through the college’s website. For more information and the current cost please visit our Public Safety Page.

Coast Community College District Public Safety has launched a new parking management system at the District Offices, Orange Coast College, Golden West College, and Coastline College that has included the implementation of Virtual Permitting to replace physical permits. This system will improve and streamline the parking permitting process. There is no physical permit to be displayed. You would only need to register the vehicle(s) that you typically drive to campus, then your vehicle license plate will be counted using license plate recognition (LPR) as your parking permit.

Textbooks, manuals, and other supplies are the responsibility of the student. Required items are available at the campus Bookstore. Check with the Bookstore for refund, exchange and buyback policies.

GWC also offers several zero cost textbook courses each semester. Please see the symbol Zero Cost textbook courses for courses with this option.

The GWC Photo ID card is required for most services on campus and can be used in subsequent semesters. New students should have their photos taken for a Golden West College Student Identification Card as soon as they register and have paid all of their fees. The cost for ID cards is included in your college fees.

Photos are taken in the Photo ID area of Admission and Records found in the Student Services building during normal business hours. Students must bring a copy of their current class schedule.

In Accordance with California State Regulations and Coast District Policy, registration fees will be refunded according to the following:

Enrollment fees, Non-Resident Fees, Material Fees:
100% refund of fees paid at registration for each class dropped by the refund deadline. No refund will be made after the refund deadline. There are no exceptions. Health Fee, College Service Charge: 100% of the fees paid at registration will be refunded if the student totally withdraws from all classes by the refund deadline for each class. No refund will be made after the refund deadline. There are no exceptions.

To Be Eligible for a Refund:
Students must officially withdraw from classes by the refund deadline (Refer to the Student Class Program/Web Schedule Bill on the Student tab of the MyGWC portal page. It is the student’s responsibility to officially withdraw from classes and to verify all withdrawals.

An instructor may drop students for non-attendance. Instructors are not responsible for making sure drops are made by the refund deadline. If the student has not been dropped from the class by the instructor, the student is responsible for withdrawing from the class by the refund deadline. Students who are officially enrolled in a class after the refund deadline will not be eligible for a refund. There are no exceptions.

Refund Processing:
Refunds will be automatically processed every week beginning the first week of registration of the semester in which the fees were paid and each week thereafter until the end of the term. Official withdrawals made in accordance with the refund policy and by the withdrawal deadline will generate a credit balance on the student account.

Online Credit Card Payment Refunds:
Registration fee payments made by credit card through MyGWC will be refunded to the same credit card used for payment. Allow 6-10 business days for the refund to post. On Campus Payment Refunds: Fee payments posted on campus, by cash, check, money order or credit card, will be refunded through Bank Mobile. It is the responsibility of the student to maintain correct and up-to-date address information. Addresses can be updated on MyGWC, under the Student Tab, and then click on Banner Self Service.

Important: Payments made using multiple payment methods (online credit card payments and cash, check or money order) during the current registration period will be refunded to the credit card used for online payments.

Students with an unpaid balance of $25 or more must pay their fees prior to the scheduled drop for non-payment date. (See Below) Please check your MyCoastPortal for your registration window.

Please Note: If you have Financial Aid covering your classes, please know it does not cover the COLLEGE SERVICE CHARGE, STUDENT HEALTH FEE, or STUDENT REPRESENTATION FEE. You must pay the fees, or you will be dropped.

If you owe over $150 and are unable to pay the balance due on your account by the scheduled drop for non-payment dates, we do have a payment agreement option. We do not want you to lose your classes.

Cashnet is a company that will break your balance down into three payments, the first being the day you sign-up. The other two payments are spread throughout the semester. When you sign up for the Payment Plan you must enter your total amount due for the registration term or your plan will not be valid, and all courses including waitlisted courses will be dropped. Balances due from prior terms cannot be added to a current Payment Plan.

If you are interested in signing up for the payment agreement option, please do so before 12pm on the scheduled drop for non-payment date. If you are having problems with Cashnet please call the A&R office before the drop date deadline. 

Note: No payment plan can be set-up once the semester has started.

Important: Students who enroll in classes after the final drop for non-payment or enroll after the term begins will not be dropped BUT will incur a financial obligation to the college AND a hold will be placed on their record if payment is not received. This hold will block future registration (adds, drops, withdrawals), grades, diplomas, or verification of enrollment until all fees are paid. Any unpaid balances could be forwarded to a Collection agency which will incur additional costs.

Remember if you have any technical issues when trying to pay online or setting up a Cashnet Payment Agreement you must call the Admissions & Records office before the 2pm drop deadline so we may help you. Failure to do so will cause you to being drop from your classes. If that happens, we cannot add you back into them, and you will have to re-register if there are seats available.

Students who have not paid their account balance in full may be dropped for non-payment of fees as follows:

IMPORTANT: Students are responsible for any fees incurred and grades received. It is the student's responsibility to drop classes by the State mandated refund deadline to avoid fee obligations. Students are strongly encouraged to print a student class program (available via MyGWC) to verify the drop. (The class will no longer appear on the student class program.) Not showing up to class for the first class meeting does not equate to withdrawing from a class. If you do not attend a class in which you are enrolled you must drop yourself from the class by the refund deadline. Drops are completed online via MyGWC.
